Roman National Academy of Sciences of Belarus<br \/><\/em><em>Minsk<\/em><\/p><p><strong>Abstract<br \/><\/strong>Operational defects and their impact on structural changes and destruction of structural steel products provided to the accredited Testing Center of the Academician O.V. Roman Institute of Powder Metallurgy of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, leading enterprises of mechanical engineering and petrochemistry of Belarus are investigated. The reasons for the formation of defects under the influence of loads, elevated temperatures, and a corrosive environment are shown. Knowledge of the patterns of degradation of the structure will improve the reliability and durability of products.<\/p><p><strong>Keywords: <\/strong>operational defects, structural steels,
